Apiranthos Folklore Museum
RELATED
Those who visit the Folklore Museum in Apeiranthos have the opportunity to get to know an old village house. The Museum, which was founded in 1966 in memory of the Aperathite fighter of the Resistance, Giannis Katinas, and is enriched by donations from the residents of Apeiranthos, represents the interior of a village house, just as it was 100 years ago.
The museum exhibits more than 1,200 objects, furniture, housewear, musical instruments such as the dumbaki (drum), the "tsambouna" (bagpipe) and the souvliari (flute), traditional costumes, and mainly exceptional textiles that praise the art of the women of Apeiranthos.
Various clay objects, books and copies of paintings of Aperathite writers and artists and music cd, which contain pieces of the musical tradition of the island are available for visitors to purchase and support the museum.
